Second Question on Hume

There are more kinds of art mediums today than in Hume’s time, so can we still apply his logic to these more modern mediums?

Of course we can.  One can still judge modern films, music, drawings, etc. according to Hume's logic.  One can gain an understanding of how films work in regards to camera angles and lenses, or how well a person acts.  Just like one can understand music in regards to the instruments, chord progression, the way it was mixed, how the singer sings, etc.  Yes, there are a lot more things to consider when judging art nowadays, and it is easy to apply Hume's logic to it.  The more experience one has in a certain area, the better they will understand it and make a judgment from that experience, as well as look at that piece of music minus bias: just because a song isn't in the genre of music one primarily enjoys, doesn't mean they can't enjoy how it was composed or how the instruments sound, etc.

Now, whether we should apply Hume's argument is a whole different story (one which I addressed in my previous blog), but regardless of whether we should, the point is we can.  Films, music, contemporary art,  modern novels, web videos, music videos, modern acting, all of these things can be taken into considering using what Hume has presented to us.  While we do live in a more developed moment in time than Hume, his belief still can be used.
